The YMCA and Minnequa Hospital, parts of CF&I's Sociological Department, aided Puebloans after the flood. The YMCA was used to shelter individuals who had lost their homes. Meals and warm water for bathing were also provided for the public. The Minnequa Hospital treated the diseased and injured; they also helped the health department vaccinate for typhoid and smallpox.
